To lead and coordinate Emerson's compliance, safety and management systems across the business, ensuring the company consistently meets legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements. The role plays a key part in supporting safe, efficient operations and maintaining Emerson's strong reputation within the construction, transport and rail sectors.
Key Accountabilities:
Monitor, maintain and continuously improve the company's five management systems: Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, Railway and Transport.
Retain and manage all current accreditations, including (but not limited to):
ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, WorkSafe Contractor, PAS 91, FORS, Building Profile, UVDB and RISQS, and support the attainment of new or alternative accreditations where appropriate.
Manage the internal employee induction matrix, ensuring records are accurate, up to date and fully compliant.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to company policies, health & safety legislation and industry standards.
Coordinate and manage employee and customer induction processes, both face-to-face and online, ensuring all compliance requirements are met prior to work commencing.
Arrange employee medicals in line with company and industry requirements.
Coordinate drug and alcohol testing programmes for operational staff.
Oversee the ordering, logging and control of PPE, ensuring monthly stock checks are completed for accounting and audit purposes.
Organise, log and monitor all staff training and certifications, working closely with HR/Payroll to arrange training agreements where required.
Assist with the company's waste management and environmental compliance requirements.
Support internal and external audits across all management systems and accreditations.
Investigate non-conformances, incidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
Provide regular compliance updates and reports to the Managing Director and senior management team.
Act as a visible point of contact for compliance and safety matters across the business, providing practical guidance to managers and operatives.
Promote a positive compliance and safety culture through engagement, communication and continuous improvement.
Requirements of the Role:
Essential
3-5 years' experience in a compliance, SHEQ, risk or safety role within construction, logistics, engineering, rail or transport.
Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation and management systems.
Experience supporting or maintaining accreditations such as ISO, FORS or RISQS.
High attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex policies, standards and procedures.
Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels.
Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
High level of integrity with a strong ethical approach to work.
Competent in the use of IT systems and Microsoft Office.
Desirable
NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards).
Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification.
Experience managing external audits and accreditation renewals.
Background in multi-site or operationally intensive environments.
Basic Working Hours:
Generally 8am-5pm Monday to Friday with 30 minutes unpaid lunch break
Holiday Entitlement 28 days per annum (inclusive of bank holidays)
