In this role you will be managing the day-today international logistics and trade compliance activities. You will be responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient movement of goods across borders while adhering to UK and international trade laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and manage the import and export of goods, ensuring compliance with UK and international trade regulations.
Prepare and review freight quotations and shipping documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transportation providers to schedule shipments and resolve logistical issues.
Maintain accurate records of all import/export activities, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external audits.
Monitor shipment progress and proactively address delays or discrepancies.
Track and report on import/export costs and suggest process improvements to reduce delays or expenses.
Ensure the correct use of commodity codes, custom procedure codes and country-of origin documentation.
Collaborate with internal departments such as warehouse, production, sales and accounts to coordinate logistics operations.
Stay current on changes to import/export legislation and provide guidance to the wider team.
Assist with the application and management of any licences, permits, or export controls where applicable.
Support audits, reporting, and KPI tracking related to trade compliance and logistics performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience in an import/export, logistics, or supply chain coordination role (ideally 3 years).
Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers and local Chambers of Commerce.
Strong knowledge of customs procedures, documentation, and international trade compliance.
Proficiency with MS Office and logistics software.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Knowledge of Brexit-related trade rules and UK trade legislation is advantageous.
Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution environment.
