This role will include a high level of manual handling of heavy and bulky items.

Only those who are willing and able to handle 20Kg+ items can be considered for this role.

Only those who are available and willing to take on holiday cover shifts will be considered for this role. To start the only fixed shift is Sunday, and the successful candidate will need to take on holiday cover as and when required.

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Shop Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service, assisting with sales, and ensuring the shop is well-organised and inviting for customers. This position requires effective communication skills, as well as a strong ability to manage time efficiently.

Duties

Greet customers warmly and assist them with their inquiries. Provide product information and recommendations to enhance the shopping experience. Handle transactions accurately and efficiently at the till. Maintain an organised and tidy shop environment, ensuring shelves are stocked and displays are appealing. Engage in upselling techniques to maximise sales opportunities. Answer phone calls professionally, addressing customer queries with excellent phone etiquette. Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive work atmosphere. Assist in inventory management, including restocking items as necessary.

Requirements

Proficiency in both English is essential; additional multilingual skills are a plus. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with customers. Maths skills for handling transactions and providing change accurately. Excellent time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively within a busy retail environment. Previous experience in retail or customer service is advantageous but not mandatory. A friendly demeanour with a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges. Although this role only has contracted weekday shifts, the successful applicant will need to be willing to accept additional shifts to ensure the store is fully staffed during peak times and to cover for annual leave. These shifts will include shifts at the weekend.

Shift Details, Compensation & Benefits

Contracted shifts / hours are 9am until 6pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Starting at National Minimum Wage for your age group. 5.6 weeks holiday per annum Up to 10% store discount
