Carnglaze Caverns is a unique, man-made former slate mine located just outside of Liskeard and St. Neot village. Welcoming visitors year-round, at the heart of it all is our lovely gift shop and ticket office - where visitors check in and have a browse at our quaint and unique items on offer.
We are looking for a friendly and reliable Shop Assistant to join our small team, delivering excellent customer service and acting as the first welcoming face for visitors to our site. We are happy to discuss regular days and hours, or work that fits around your lifestyle, making this role ideal for someone organised, punctual, and passionate about delivering a positive customer experience looking for a flexible schedule in a beautiful woodland setting.
What you will be doing -
Manage till operations accurately using basic math skills.
Providing high and consistent levels of customer service.
Handle customer enquiries efficiently and resolve any issues promptly.
Checking visitors in through our electronic system.
Monitoring numbers of guests throughout the day and advising staff if further adjustments need to be made.
Delivering safety briefings to all visitors before they enter the caverns.
Ensuring shelves are being restocked and keeping note of what additional stock needs to be ordered.
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness inside the shop and across the site, including the outdoor areas and the toilets.
Being the knowledgeable and approachable face of the business, with excellent customer service skills.
Answering the phone to customer enquiries.

You will ideally have -
Previous shop/gift shop experience.
Be over 18 years old, as we sell alcoholic gifts within our gift shop and these cannot be sold unsupervised.
A full driving licence or reliable transport is a MUST, as we are not on a public transport route.
We can be flexible on some requirements for the right candidate.

We close to the public in November and January each year for site maintenance, so there will be extended time off opportunities.
