About the Role

Dovecote Northumberland is an established independent retail and production business based in Alnwick. We are looking for a

Shop & Operations Manager

to oversee the day-to-day running of our store and small team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys

structure, standards and organisation

, and who takes pride in keeping a business running smoothly. It is

not a startup or build-from-scratch role

, but a leadership position within a well-established brand and clear way of working.

You will be trusted to manage daily operations, lead the team, and maintain the calm, high-quality environment Dovecote is known for.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily shop operations and customer experience Manage staff rotas, timekeeping and day-to-day standards Act as the first point of escalation for staff and customer queries Oversee stock levels, ordering and supplier liaison within agreed budgets Coordinate and schedule production activity Ensure procedures, systems and quality standards are followed consistently Maintain a tidy, calm and well-run working environment

About You

Proven experience in

retail, hospitality or operations management

Confident managing people and setting boundaries kindly but firmly Highly organised, dependable and solution-focused Comfortable making day-to-day decisions independently Not ego-driven, but confident taking responsibility Happy working within an established brand and way of doing things
