We are currently recruiting for a Shutdown Coordinator. This role will report into the Production Manager. The Shutdown Coordinator is instrumental in ensuring the refinery is fully prepared for outages by collaborating closely with process, planning, and procurement teams. Key responsibilities include developing a detailed outage project schedule, managing the established scope, and addressing any additional requests that emerge after the scope is finalised. During the outage, the individual is responsible for providing regular progress updates and identifying potential challenges to the Plant Senior Leadership Team that could impact the duration of the shutdown.
Furthermore, this role supports process superintendents in organising and planning smaller-scale outages.
To excel in this role, candidates must possess strong IT skills, exceptional organisational capabilities, and outstanding communication skills. These competencies are vital for effectively handling the complexities of shutdown planning and scheduling, as well as for maintaining seamless coordination across departments and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling for all plant Shutdown (PNP) work withing shutdown envelope.
Communicate with Plant Superintendents and Execution teams to develop work scope for shutdowns & Outages of process plant.
Communicate with Plant Superintendents and Execution teams to ensure that all work follows statutory requirements, legislative regulations, company policies, work standards, and governance requirements in their area of responsibility.
Communicate with Plant Superintendents and Execution teams during execution phase of PNP work to monitor progress, adjusting schedules to meet target dates accordingly.
Plan & Monitor costs for all planned shutdown work- accountable for the planning of and management of shutdown cost budget
Work with the MPC scheduler to ensure all shutdown work is transferred into effective plans for the execution teams
Software in shutdown planning - develop the most efficient method and use of software to effectively plan shutdown work.
Competency - Shutdown planning, Shutdown planning software, chairing shutdown meetings, organizing complex work into logical sequential steps.
LIF / CRM - shutdown safety audits are carried out to a high standard at the frequency dictated by the Refinery.
Participates in Continuous improvement activities
Requirements
Undergraduate Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
Previous experience of Shutdown planning within Heavy Industry
Excellent IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft packages
Commitment to continuous improvement
Strong analytical and Organisational skills
