Key Responsibilities & Requirements

Technical:

+ Read and interpret technical drawings and relevant documentation.
+ Set up and safely use trench boxes, drag boxes, and manhole boxes.
+ Operate pipe lasers accurately for line and level.
+ Lay concrete, clay, and plastic pipes of all sizes, ensuring correct bedding, surround, and testing procedures.

Drainage & Groundwater Management:

+ Manage groundwater effectively, including setting up and operating appropriately sized pumps.
+ Ensure correct trench backfilling procedures are followed.
+ Construct and bench manholes to specification.

Site Safety & Coordination:

+ Work safely around live services using service avoidance techniques.
+ Carry out daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance on plant and equipment.
+ Communicate maintenance or service requirements promptly to the site management team.

External Works Experience (Desirable):

+ Kerbing, edging, slab laying, and block paving.
+ Sound understanding of materials and methods for underground drainage, road formation, and hard/soft landscaping.

Desirable Skills & Experience

5-10+ years' experience in skilled groundworks, with a strong focus on deep drainage. Additional CPCS/NPORS tickets - Telehandlers, Dumpers, Rollers.
Experienced working gangs or teams are highly sought after.
