The Service & Team:



In the role of Skills Programme Fund Assistant, you will be working in the Council's Economy and Skills Service. Under the direction of the new Skills Programme Manager and working closely with Skills Programme colleagues, the Fund Assistant will support team with effective and compliant delivery and administration of the Council's Adult Skills funding

.



The Role:



Cornwall Council's Economy & Skills Service is seeking a proactive and highly organised Skills Programmes Fund Assistant to support the delivery of the Adult Skills Fund and other skills programmes, including Skills Bootcamps. This role is essential in helping to ensure the smooth and compliant administration of the Council's devolved skills funding.


As a Skills Programmes Fund Assistant, you will work closely with colleagues in your team to support a wide range of operational and administrative functions. These include assisting with contract management, processing claims and payments, maintaining accurate records and supporting programme monitoring and evaluation. You will also help coordinate meetings, manage communications and contribute to the development of systems and processes that underpin the successful delivery of the funded programmes.


The ideal candidate will bring strong administrative experience, excellent organisational and communication skills and a keen eye for detail. You should be confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word and be comfortable working with data and supporting performance monitoring. Experience in supporting programme or project delivery, particularly in a public sector or skills-related environment, would be an advantage.

Working Pattern:



37 hours per week. However, we are happy to talk about flexible working options such as part-time or compressed hours.



What you'll need to succeed:



Strong Administrative Skills

: Proven experience in administrative support, including managing correspondence, scheduling meetings and maintaining accurate records and filing systems.

Excellent Communication:

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including responding to enquiries and preparing meeting documentation.

Organisational Ability

: Skilled in prioritising tasks, managing time efficiently and coordinating travel, events and diary commitments for staff.

Attention to Detail:

High level of accuracy in processing claims, payments and data entry, as well as in note-taking and producing meeting records.

IT Proficiency

: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to support data monitoring and reporting.

Problem-Solving and Initiative

: Resourceful in addressing issues, improving systems and supporting continuous improvement across programme delivery.

Team Collaboration

: Works well with colleagues and partners, showing respect, sharing knowledge and contributing to a positive team environment.

Understanding of Local Government and Skills Sector

: Awareness of how local government operates and the context of economic development or skills-related programmes.
