An exciting opportunity has arisen within Medicine as a new Smoking Cessation service is being set up.
We have vacancies for 2 Tobacco dependency advisors. These roles will focus on providing inpatients with support to help them stop smoking.
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals with excellent communication skills to be a Smoking Cessation Advisor. Experience of working in an NHS/Health care setting would be beneficial or a role where frequent engagement with the public was key.
You will be responsible for undertaking face to face smoking cessation assessments with inpatients and liaising with the clinical and community teams involved in the patients' care and onward cessation journeys. Providing education to trust staff and undertaking smoking cessation roadshows when necessary. Training will be provided, but the post holder will be expected to computer literate (word, outlook, excel).
Key responsibilities:
Deliver smoking cessation services to inpatients within Medicine Care group wards, reporting to the Band 4 and Band 7 CNS.
Establish and maintain communication with patients, relatives and carers, working in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care.
Contribute to own personal development.
Assist in maintaining own and others' health, safety and security.
Ensure own actions help to maintain quality and patient safety.
Assist with a wide range of administrative services to the smoking cessation team.
Assisting in the transfer of patients to community smoking cessation services.
Access a number of computer systems to track patient's progress and current status in treatment pathway.
Undertake data entry onto local and national databases and updating of spreadsheets.
Dealing promptly with a wide range of enquiries from staff and patients.
Ability to work flexibly and unsociable hours to meet the demands of the service.
