Role Overview and Responsibilities
The SMT Operator will work within a small shift team carrying out manufacturing process steps for the assembly of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and the assembly of products to agreed standards and quality levels.
Requirements of the Role
Responsible for following the SMT (Surface Mount Technology) production procedures to obtain the highest levels of quality and efficiency possible. Ensure that production requirements are met as per the production plan.
Competencies
Highlight any material shortages in advance of the changeover.
Perform the most economical machine set up with minimal down-time.
Ensure that all procedural checks are carried out before production begins and that the paperwork is completed in real time.
Ensure that a first off / last off is completed and recorded by an AOI/Rework Operator.
Monitor the machine output against component waste levels.
Adhere to Quality requirements inclusive of ESD standard.
Keep excellent levels of housekeeping within the SMT Department.
Participate in activities to improve machine performance by:
Reducing machine changeover time.
Reducing machine down time.
Increasing machine performance.
Ensure Quality standards are rigorously applied to all tasks completed and take an active role in identifying issues which may affect quality of your own work or the work of others.
Adhere to all policy and legislative requirements in respect of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation.
Any other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications/Skills/Personal Qualities Required
Excellent numerical skills.
Strong communication skills.
Attention to detail.
A positive, 'can do' attitude.
An interest in electronics/manufacturing.
Experience of running pick and place machines, (preferably MyData /Juki).
Previous experience in working from circuit and Engineering drawings.
Good component recognition skills.
