We are looking to recruit a Social Work Assistant to join the Family and Friends Team. This is a part time 18.5 hours, fixed term post until 31st March 2027. The Family and Friends Team specialises in working with children being cared for by extended family members or friends and children who are at home with their parents under a care order.
This is a diverse role and includes the undertaking of financial assessments, supervising contact, completing checks for social workers and managing a duty desk where you are required to deal with enquires from families and other professionals. Supervising family time will be a key part of your role, however there may be opportunities to undertake some direct work with children and families.
The role will include liaising with professionals and organising checks regarding assessments. You will also be responsible for completing financial assessments of our cares and you will need to be skilled in developing and sustaining effective multi-agency working across a range of professional groups. You will be efficient and organised and work within tight deadlines and timescales, with skills around managing numbers and be able to confidently work out finanical entitlements of carers. You will need to visit service users; support the social workers within the team and work under the direction of the Assistant Team Manager.
You will be highly motivated, focused on providing high quality, timely and effective support with children and families and have good organisational and time management skills. You will be part of a highly supportive environment and have good access to training and development opportunities. You will ideally have experience of completing finanical assessments or feel confident in being able to learn these processes
