Software Engineering Lead

Method is working with a purpose-driven technology company on a multi-year transformation to rebuild its core platform into a modern, event-driven microservices architecture. Their mission is to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability through connected technology, and they're looking for a Software Engineering Lead to help make that happen.
The role
You'll take ownership of a core product area, leading a talented engineering team through a complete architectural refresh. Working closely with Product, you'll set technical direction, guide delivery, and embed best practice across CI/CD, testing, and observability. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends strategic input with real engineering depth.
What you'll do

• Lead the design, build, deployment, and operation of critical software systems.
• Architect and deliver the shift to an event-driven microservices environment.
• Improve automation, monitoring, and incident response capability.
• Partner with Product and stakeholders to define and execute the roadmap.
• Mentor and develop engineers, driving a culture of quality and accountability.

What you'll bring

• Experience leading software teams through major rebuilds or modernisation programmes.
• Strong background in distributed systems or large-scale applications.
• Proven track record in DevOps, CI/CD, and scalable production delivery.
• A collaborative mindset and ability to influence across teams.
• Experience in IoT, data platforms, or safety-critical technology is advantageous.
