The Construction Solicitor provides specialist legal advice and representation in contentious and non-contentious construction matter. The role exists to support clients in managing legal risks, resolving disputes and ensuring compliance with UK construction law and contracts. The solicitor works with contractors, developers, architects, and consultants to achieve practical, cost-effective outcomes while protecting clients' interests.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Advise clients on construction contracts, risk management, and dispute resolution.
Draft, review, and negotiate construction agreements, including JCT, NEC, FIDIC and bespoke contracts.
Represent clients in adjudication, arbitration, mediation, and litigation.
Provide guidance on regulatory compliance, building safety, and statutory obligation.
Manage a caseload of both contentious and non-contentious matters from instruction through to resolution.
Conduct legal research and apply UK construction law, and statutory requirements.
Liaise with contractors, developers, consultants, insurers, and external stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Code of Conduct and maintain accurate client records.
Required Qualifications
Qualified Solicitor with current practising certificate
Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in construction law.
Strong knowledge of UK & international construction contracts, dispute resolution procedures and civil procedures.
Excellent advocacy, drafting, and negotiation skills.
Strong client management and communication skills.
