The Role:
As a Solicitor within the WPPI team, you will be dedicated to pursuing compensation for clients who have been injured at work or in a public place. As a key part of a team of skilled Solicitors and Paralegals, you will work to obtain maximum compensation for our clients and deliver excellent client experience. You will be able to make a positive difference to your clients day-to-day lives.
You will have a mixed caseload of litigated and pre-litigation cases. You will be responsible for handling cases across the full life cycle of the claim, from initial enquiry through to litigation and proof, where required. You will investigate the factual and legal complexities of work and public place injury claims, represent clients in all aspects of third-party negotiation and be responsible for client management and advice.
We will consider candidates with all levels of post-qualification experience. Ideally, you will have a strong background in pursuing personal injury actions in the Sheriff Court, the All Scotland Personal Injury Court, and the Court of Session. You will have experience of written and oral Court advocacy and instructing Counsel.
You will be able to work autonomously, with support from supervising Solicitors and Partners. You will also have the support of a dedicated Secretarial team and Legal Assistants. You should be client focused and proactive, with a positive attitude and flexible approach. Being a strong team player who is caring and compassionate will be well-suited to make a big impact here.

Responsibilities:
Manage a case holding of personal injury (Work and Public Place Injury) loss matters
Conduct initial client consultations to assess the viability of potential cases
Develop and implement effective legal strategies to support clients claims
Represent clients in negotiations, mediations and court proceedings
Conduct legal research to support case arguments and strategies
Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on case progress
Advise clients on legal processes, expectations and potential outcomes
Draft legal documents
Work collaboratively with Solicitors, Paralegals, Legal Assistants and other team members
Provide mentorship and support to junior members of staff
Who are you?
Practicing Scottish Solicitor with at least 1 year experience in PI team or firm
Experienced in representing pursuers in personal injury matters in the Sheriff Courts and All Scotland Sheriff Personal Injury Court
Excellent oral and written advocacy skills
First-rate knowledge of Court practice and procedures
Good legal research and interpretative skills
Excellent client care and communication skills combined
The ability to work autonomously, with supervision
Aptitude for working independently and using initiative
Compassion and empathy with clients
Strong IT skills in Microsoft Office and case management systems
Good time management and be able to meet deadlines, multi-task, and prioritise
Commercial awareness with a focus on meeting key performance indicators and targets
