Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled SolidWorks Software Engineer to join our growing digital engineering team. This role is crucial in enhancing our BIM team's capability to support our existing Senior SolidWorks Engineer prefabrication, modular construction, and digital workflows. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering SolidWorks training programmes tailored to a team of existing BIM Coordinators, ensuring seamless integration between BIM processes and detailed fabrication modelling.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver bespoke SolidWorks training programmes
for BIM Coordinators, focusing on:3D parametric modelling
Assembly and fabrication modelling for MEP prefabrication
Drawing production for manufacturing and on-site installation
Integration workflows between SolidWorks and BIM platforms (Revit/Navisworks/IFC exports)
Provide ongoing technical support, mentoring, and upskilling to the BIM team as they transition into SolidWorks-based prefabrication workflows.
Collaborate with the Digital Engineering Manager and BIM Leads to identify team training needs and technical development opportunities.
Work closely with prefabrication teams to align SolidWorks modelling standards, templates, and libraries with project and fabrication requirements.
Develop and maintain SolidWorks templates, standard part libraries, and custom features for MEP systems and prefabricated assemblies.
Support project delivery by assisting in the development of detailed fabrication models when required.
Provide feedback on optimising digital workflows and interoperability between SolidWorks and BIM environments.
Stay up to date with the latest SolidWorks features and relevant industry technologies, integrating innovative practices into the business.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Criteria:
Proven experience as a
SolidWorks Engineer
or similar role in a construction, MEP, or prefabrication environment.
Strong working knowledge of:
SolidWorks 3D modelling, assemblies, and drawings
Sheet metal, weldments, and piping modules (desirable)
BIM processes and coordination platforms (Revit, Navisworks, IFC workflows)
Previous experience
delivering software training or mentoring teams
within an engineering or construction environment.
Ability to translate complex software workflows into easy-to-understand, practical training sessions for BIM professionals.
Excellent communication, organisational, and documentation skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to digital workflow challenges.
Desirable Criteria:
Degree/HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline.
Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) or higher accreditation.
Experience working with MEP prefabrication or modular construction
