Leonardo are excited to offer a new and immediate opportunity for a Solutions Architect, based on site in either in Southampton, Basildon or Bristol.

The Solution Architect activities will range from SI Enterprise Architecture design, identification of technical solutions & architectures, technical leadership in bids and external studies, scope of and participation in PV and support to Capability Management for product portfolios.

About the Role

As the Solutions Architect, you will enhance the leadership and strategic direction of work within the LCA domain. As an area of significant value within the Business Area and where multiple new business opportunities present themselves it would be hugely beneficial to ensure approaches that support future growth and expansion, in addition to fully utilising synergies across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining high awareness of all relevant developments around LCA.
  • Proposing and evaluating alternative technical and commercial approaches to delivering prime contract capability and systems to the customer.
  • Maximising the value of the Leonardo workshare.
  • Generation of white papers to shape thinking within the stakeholder community.
  • Developing the solution architecture for optimum cost effectiveness and URD compliance
  • Developing a combination of systems and software solutions.
  • Working with Systems Architects and Systems Engineering, develop candidate system architectures and derive requirements at all system levels.
  • Work with the Bid Team to estimate the cost of solutions.
  • Perform cost benefit analysis of system component development versus COTS procurement.
  • Contribute to the development of Enterprise Architectures for Major campaigns and programmes.
About You

You will have proven experience as a Solutions Architect, with significant experience developing communications, EW and/or other vehicle mission systems based architectures, products and systems, throughout the full lifecycle.

Essential experience required includes;
  • Experience of dealing with customers at a senior commercial and technical level.
  • Experience of estimating costs and technical risk for each solution approach.
  • Experience of full life cycle for product and system development (concept through to disposal).
  • Familiarity with open systems architectures such as SOSA, LCA, GVA, OpenVPX, MORA, OpenCPI, VITA.
  • Experience of formal user requirements capture, traceability and compliance management methodology and tools.
Desirable experience
  • Experience of military electronic systems including an understanding of interoperability, scenarios and customer needs.
  • Knowledge of military communications architecture[s] and principles.
  • Experience of military command and control networks in the Land and Maritime context.
  • Experience of the methodology and production of the engineering documentation necessary to support a competitive tender.
  • Experience of relevant tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, System Architect and The Mathworks.
  • Experience working in a consultancy type role.
