As a Barclays Solutions Architect your role will be to lead the solutioning/end-to-end design activities for major Regulatory projects or programmes of work across the end-to-end BI Technology (approx. 80-90% of role). To assist the Head, E&D TC01 in defining the strategy and roadmap or responding to fire drills for this domain (approx. 10-20% of role). You will also may have the opportunity to lead a team of Architects should the scale of a project demand multiple Architects.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We\xe2\x80\x99re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances. What will you be doing?

  • You will have ownership of end-to-end technical and application architecture for allocated projects, identifying and engaging all technical component teams that need to contribute
  • You will be responsible for ensuring project designs are compliant to architectures and standards
  • Producing required governance artefacts as dictated by the TSBIA rating assigned to the project
  • Presenting large project designs at the appropriate Design Authority
  • Leading a team of architects (should the scale of the project demand multiple architects)
  • Working under the guidance of the Lead Architect, developing elements of the technical strategy, roadmaps, and vision for the domain
  • Ensuring alignment to Board approved Purpose, Values, Risk Appetite and Policies and are consistent with wider BI and Barclays Group standards
What we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:
  • Proven experience in designing and/or building highly scalable and highly resilient global scale financial systems
  • Extensive experience in systems integration projects is a pre-requisite
  • Able to demonstrate previous evidence of drive, energy, commitment, and enthusiasm
Skills that will help you in the role:
  • The successful candidate ideally will have experience in banking applications and infrastructure, with an understanding of service management
  • Solution architect and enterprise architect training and certification, e.g. TOGAF, BCS accreditation
  • Exposure to Service Orientated Architecture design principles, service definition web services implementation including exposure of API components to external consumers
  • Knowledge and experience in working with UK and International Payment processing
