What you'll be doing
In this role you will play a key role in designing and guiding the implementation of scalable, secure, and cloud-native solutions that support business change across the Group and its subsidiaries. You will work closely with engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure solutions are aligned with strategic platforms and business goals.
This role requires a strong engineering background, hands-on experience in solution architecture, and the ability to lead discovery activities, run workshops, and produce high-quality models and documentation. You'll be instrumental in integrating systems such as Salesforce, Moodle, and Customer.io into the wider enterprise architecture, while supporting the Group's transition toward strategic platforms like the Global Group Education Platform.
As such, you will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities
Design and document end-to-end solutions that meet business requirements and align with enterprise architecture.
Lead and facilitate discovery workshops with stakeholders across the Group and subsidiaries.
Produce architectural models, integration maps, and technical documentation using industry-standard techniques.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and maintainable.
Support the integration of third-party platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Moodle, Customer.io) into core systems.
Promote cloud-native design principles, with a strong preference for AWS-based architectures.
Contribute to the evolution of architectural standards and practices within Group IT.
Identify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies early in the solution lifecycle.
Provide architectural oversight during delivery, ensuring alignment with design intent.
Stay current with emerging technologies and trends, advising on their relevance to the Group's goals.
What we're looking for
To be successful in this role you will need to have a proven track record in the following areas:
Proven experience as a Solutions Architect or Senior Engineer with architectural responsibilities.
Strong engineering background with hands-on experience in full stack or cloud-native development.
Experience designing solutions using AWS services (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS).
Proficiency in modelling techniques (e.g., UML, C4, BPMN) and mapping tools.
Demonstrated ability to run workshops and lead discovery activities with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience integrating with platforms such as Salesforce, Moodle, and Customer.io.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Pragmatic mindset focused on delivering business value while maintaining strategic alignment.
AWS certifications or equivalent cloud expertise.
Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and API design.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi).
Understanding of data architecture, security, and performance optimization.
Exposure to education technology platforms or multi-subsidiary environments.
