The Source Inspector (SI) is responsible for performing inspection operations on in-process or completed products, aligned with assigned projects and area(s) of expertise. Inspections include dimensional and visual inspection of one or more product types or commodities, such as mechanical parts, structures, assemblies, interiors, and electrical or electronic components.
Source inspection activities include reviewing all documentation related to the product, including manufacturing and quality records. Typical inspection activities include Final Inspection, Receiving Inspection, Outside Processing, and Assembly Inspection.
The SI verifies First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation (e.g. AS9102) for accuracy and completeness. The SI is familiar with appropriate hand tools, measurement techniques, blueprint interpretation, and GD&T relevant to the assigned scope.
Source inspections are performed at customer or supplier locations under general supervision.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform dimensional and visual inspection on products within assigned commodity scope(s), including one or more of the following:
Mechanical and machined components
Structural or fabricated parts
Assemblies and sub-assemblies
Interiors and finished products
Electrical, electronic, or PCB assemblies
Perform Final Inspection and Receiving Inspection, including dimensional, visual, surface finish, and assembly inspection, as applicable.
Review and verify manufacturing and quality documentation related to inspected products.
Verify First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation for accuracy and completeness (verification only).
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions applicable to assigned products.
Use appropriate hand measurement tools and gauges.
Identify and document non-conformances and communicate findings clearly.
Liaise professionally with suppliers, customers, and internal quality teams.
Complete inspection reports and records in line with customer and company requirements.
Perform other duties aligned with the role.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience as a quality inspector or source inspector in a manufacturing or supply-chain environment.
Proven experience in one or more of the following areas, depending on background:
Mechanical or machined components
Structural or fabricated parts
Assembly and integration
Interiors or finished products
Electrical, electronic, or PCB assemblies
Strong understanding of dimensional and/or visual inspection techniques relevant to the assigned scope.
Experience using hand measurement tools (e.g. calipers, micrometers, gauges).
Knowledge of CMM inspection processes (CMM programming not required).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of GD&T, where applicable.
Experience with FAI processes (e.g. AS9102 or equivalent) is an advantage.
Knowledge of relevant industry or customer standards (e.g. IPC, ISO) is preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Travel to supplier and customer sites is required.
Overseas travel may be required for certain assignments.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
3+ years' experience as a quality inspector, source inspector, quality technician, or similar role.
Experience in aerospace, automotive, rail, defence, or industrial manufacturing environments.
Practical experience with inspection tools, gauges, and quality documentation.
Experience supporting RCCA or problem-solving activities is a plus.
