Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated
Sous-Chef
to support our Head Chef and kitchen team. This is a
semi-permanent position (20-35 hours/week)
with
hourly pay
, transitioning to a
full-time, permanent role from September onwards
. The role involves assisting in food preparation, managing kitchen operations, and helping deliver outstanding service at both on-site and off-site events.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef in planning and executing menus based on seasonal ingredients and client requirements
Oversee food preparation and presentation to maintain consistent quality
Lead kitchen operations in the Head Chef's absence
Supervise and support junior kitchen staff during service
Assist with inventory control, ordering, and cost management
Ensure adherence to food hygiene, health, and safety regulations
Participate in off-site event preparation, setup, and service as required
Help maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
Requirements
Minimum
1 year of experience
as a Chef de Partie or Sous-Chef, ideally in catering or events
Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Strong organisational and multitasking skills
Good knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen operations
Valid UK work permit or right to work
in the UK
Flexibility to work
Monday to Friday
, with occasional
weekend shifts
as needed
A
valid UK driving licence
required
Fluent or competent in spoken English
