Job Description

I'm looking to hire a Toddler Class Spanish tutor to lead a group of approx 10-13 children with parent/s.

Saturdays from 10.45/10.50 am to 12.10 (approx 50 mins teaching plus setting up) Normally no sessions during school holidays, although it can be agreed.

Current provisional dates:

31st of May, 7th, 14th, 21st June.

Sessions are currently based at Ballynafeigh Methodist Church, Ormeau Road.
Rate: 15-19 p/slot depending on experience and ability to plan independently.

Payrolled or freelance, monthly payments. NO cash in hand.

Pro rata holiday accrual payment if payrolled or slightly higher rate for freelance.

Each session involves singing songs using actions with the group, teaching some words every week using flashcards or props, games, colouring or craft activity, encouraging full sentences/conversation during the session using small amount of English.

Possibility to increase to two consecutive slots from September, if wanted.

Essential criteria

Relevant experience such as teaching to young children.

Punctual and reliable.

You need to have a natural good interaction with kids.

Energetic (the position involves a lot of standing, moving, silly dances and more. The more movement you add the better).

Chatty and fun personality to keep both children and parents engaged.

Confident in singing nursery rhymes with actions in front of groups of children and parents. There are at least 5 nursery rhymes in each session. No need to be at X-Factor standard but you need to be confident and at ease.

Able to plan the sessions beforehand each week. Guidance and suggestions will be given in the initial weeks however you will be generally required to plan independently. Planning will involve choosing and learning songs, choosing craft/coloring activities, preparing elements for crafts, printing or drawing flashcards, practising songs/actions when introducing a new song.

Access to own printer or able to prepare elements manually.

Willing to follow instructions, guidance and small amount of training.

Desirable criteria

Creative with own initiative. Lesson plans and guidance will be provided however your ideas are welcome to complement and customize the existing plan.
