We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Parts Manager to oversee the parts department within our organisation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing inventory, logistics, and ensuring the efficient operation of the parts supply chain. This role requires strong leadership skills, a background in automotive service, and proficiency in warehouse operations. The Parts Manager will play a crucial role in maintaining equipment functionality and supporting our service teams.
Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the parts inventory, ensuring accurate stock levels are maintained.
Coordinate logistics for incoming and outgoing parts, including shipping and receiving processes.
Utilise Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track parts usage and availability.
Negotiate with suppliers to secure favourable terms for parts procurement.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations while operating warehouse equipment, including forklifts.
Conduct regular audits of inventory to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
Provide training and support to staff on parts management procedures and best practices.
Collaborate with the automotive service team to ensure timely availability of necessary parts for repairs.
Maintain accurate data entry records related to inventory management and procurement activities.
Experience
Proven experience in a parts management or similar role within the automotive or equipment repair industry.
Familiarity with warehouse operations, including shipping and receiving processes.
Proficient in using AS400 or similar inventory management software.
Strong understanding of logistics principles and practices related to parts distribution.
Experience with data entry tasks, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently (certification preferred).
Excellent negotiation skills to manage supplier relationships effectively.
