Salary/Benefits:

About the role:





We are currently seeking a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Transition Coordinator to join our Additional Support department at The Bedford College Group.



As a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Transition Coordinator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:


SEND Assessment & Planning

- Conduct assessments for students with SEND and EHCPs, identifying appropriate support levels and ensuring timely, high-quality documentation for internal and external use.

Transition & Collaboration

- Support smooth student transitions into college by liaising with schools, local authorities, and curriculum teams, ensuring individual needs are met from the outset.

Curriculum & Staff Support

- Work with teaching staff to implement support strategies, deliver CPD on specific needs, and contribute to curriculum planning that reflects inclusive practices.

Engagement & Communication

- Build effective relationships with students, families, and staff, and represent the college at open days, taster events, and meetings to promote inclusive education.

Compliance & Professional Development

- Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety responsibilities, while actively engaging in training and development to maintain professional standards.

About you:




Qualifications & Knowledge

- Holds A Levels or equivalent, with further education or vocational training in Education, Health, or Social Sciences. Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and post-16 education pathways.

Experience & Professional Practice

- Experienced in supporting young people with SEND and EHCPs, leading multi-agency meetings, and working in further education or similar settings with a focus on inclusion and support.

Skills & Communication

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce professional reports, maintain confidentiality, and build effective relationships with students, staff, and external partners.

Organisation & Adaptability

- Highly organised, able to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing environments. Strong IT and administrative skills, with experience using Microsoft Office and education systems.

Commitment & Compliance

- Dedicated to safeguarding, equality, and continuous professional development. Willing to travel, work flexibly, and uphold the college's values and reputation in all professional interactions.
