The Role


We are looking for a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) who s our passion for inclusion and wants to help every child thrive. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, dedicated team and lead our SEND provision with creativity and compassion. This role does not have a class teaching responsibility, allowing the successful candidate to focus solely on supporting the diverse needs of children across the school. This would be an M5 - M6 position with some flexibility around the role and for the right candidate we would consider both 0.8 (with hours to be agreed) or full time.


Key Responsibilities


Champion the needs of pupils with SEND and ensure they receive effective support that reflects their needs

Ensure the school's SEND provision is in line with the local offer and national standards as well as the SEND Code of Practice

Implement the graduated approach to providing SEND support

Work with the headteacher and governors on the strategic development of SEND provision

Work within the school's leadership team to develop and oversee the school's SEND policy and strategy

Liaise with external agencies and requests for information as needed, ensuring SEND record keeping is in line with school policy and the SEND Code of Practice

Provide guidance and training to staff so that inclusive practice is at the heart of everything we do

Support staff with the identification of children with SEND

Work closely with teachers, families, and external professionals to create positive outcomes

Develop adaptive strategies that make learning accessible and enjoyable for all

What We're Looking For
A qualified teacher with (or working towards) the National Award for SEND Coordination.

Someone who understands the SEND Code of Practice and can put it into action, including a sound knowledge of high-quality teaching as described in the SEND CoP.

A colleague who has experience of working with wider professionals to provide the highest levels of support for children with SEND and their families

Someone who is ambitious and has high expectations for all children

A warm, approachable team player who communicates well and builds strong relationships with parents, children, and colleagues

A problem-solver with a positive outlook, who is highly organised and agile at developing priorities

Someone who can manage challenging situations, maintaining a calm but clear approach, which is underpinned by a secure knowledge of systems and processes
