Flying Start is a boutique chain of private day nurseries in Shaftesbury and Gillingham, Dorset. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to join our friendly team. The SENCOwill be responsible for overseeing the provision for nursery children with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the support necessary to thrive academically and socially.

Duties:

- Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
- Collaborate with parents, and external agencies to create a supportive learning environment.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on best practices for supporting students with special needs.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of children with SEN, adjusting interventions as needed.
- Conduct assessments to identify children who may require additional support.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

Absolute Requirements

- All qualifications must have been obtained in the UK:

- Childcare qualification, minimum Level 3 and; or, an SEN Specialism.

- Willing to gain the required NPQ qualification funded by the nursery.

- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and speech therapy.
- Ability to educate and mentor both children and staff.
- Understanding of physical education requirements for children with special needs.
- Familiarity with toddler care practices.

- Fluent English speaker

- Proficiency in Maths and English to Level 5 minimum.
