About the Role

This role is part-time (30 Hours a week) and term time only (38 weeks per year). We are looking to recruit two Specialist Learning Support Assistants to work with high needs students with a range of SEN across the college\'s departments. These roles require experienced professionals who can work, both in class and out of class, with young people who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties to promote positive outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • To lead in a specialist area, such as mental health or behaviour.
  • Supporting other staff to increase their knowledge and understanding of this.
  • To oversee the intervention programmes and respond positively to students who need additional support.
  • To provide 1:1 and small group mentoring and support as required.
  • Support department management with the planning and delivery of training related to your area of specialism.
  • In conjunction with the teachers, identify students who require your specialist support and plan, deliver and evaluate student interventions in your specialist area.
  • Support on transition arrangements for SEND learners. Undertake duties of a Learning Support Assistant as required.
About You
  • Experience of working with students who have High Needs / SEND in a specialist area such as SEMH, Medical, Dyslexia and Autism.
  • Experience of implementing appropriate support strategies to assist students.
  • Successful and proven experience of training and supporting staff whilst developing and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of current safeguarding legislation in relation to SEND / High Needs learners
