About the Role

This role is part-time (25 hours per week) term time only (40 weeks per year).

Due to growth in the Schools of Academic and Social Sciences, we have exciting roles within our Foundation Studies curriculum area. We are looking to recruit two specialist learning support workers, who will take lead in communication and language or therapies - including behaviour, social and emotional. This roles requires an experienced professional who can work within the provision and support the curriculum delivered to our learners with High Needs and SEND. You will lead small group sessions and play a key role in supporting all of our learners work towards EHCP and qualification outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • To lead in a specialist area, such as communication, language or behaviour therapies supporting other staff to increase their knowledge and understanding of this.
  • To oversee the intervention programmes and respond positively to students who need additional support.
  • To provide 1:1 and small group mentoring and support as required.
  • Support department management with the planning and delivery of training related to your area of specialism.
  • In conjunction with the teachers, identify students who require your specialist support and plan, deliver and evaluate student interventions in your specialist area.
  • Support on transition arrangements for SEND learners.
  • Undertake duties of a Learning Support Assistant as required.
About You
  • Experience of working with students who have High Needs / SEND in a specialist area such as SEMH, Medical, Dyslexia and Autism.
  • Experience of implementing appropriate support strategies to assist students.
  • Successful and proven experience of training and supporting staff whilst developing and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of current safeguarding legislation in relation to SEND / High Needs learners.
