The organisation has been providing the NHS with adult, children, young people and their families services for individuals living with obesity in London and the South of England since 2009. We offer a fully comprehensive clinically-led service, incorporating dietetic, activity and behaviour change support. Our patients are at the heart of the service, offering flexible treatment to suit all needs.

Job Summary



The Dietitian will play a key role in delivering an integrated treatment package that will combine specialist assessment and management combined with ongoing treatment provided by existing community resources. As a specialist the role will provide one to one clinic and education, training and supervision to other clinicians in the area.

Hours:



We would like someone to work full time, but be able to provide flexibility with one evening per week until 7.30pm and a Saturday morning 9am - 3pm.

Key Responsibilities



Clinical Duties



1. Deliver specialist dietary assessment and management as part of a multi-disciplinary team, developing personalised care plans.
2. Counsel and educate patients and carers on complex dietary interventions, adhering to professional codes of practice.
3. Deliver individual and group dietetic sessions, including a 12-week psychoeducational programme, in alignment with clinical guidelines.
4. Conduct outpatient clinics, providing follow-up care to bariatric patients for over two years post-surgery, in collaboration with the Lead Dietitian.
5. Monitor and assess patients' medical conditions, including blood tests and biochemistry, and liaise with GPs as necessary.
6. Manage a caseload of approximately 400 patients annually, ensuring timely referral and coordination with community services.
7. Undertake home visits for medically complex and housebound patients.
8. Communicate dietary requirements and nutritional assessments with the multi-disciplinary team.

Education, Training, and Research



1. Provide specialist nutrition education to healthcare professionals, including regular group education sessions for patients and staff.
2. Act as a resource for specialist dietary information on obesity for healthcare teams and community stakeholders.
3. Develop patient and professional information materials.
4. Lead and participate in relevant research and audit projects to support evidence-based dietetic practice.
5. Maintain professional competence through continuous professional development (CPD).

Professional Responsibilities

1. Ensure evidence-based practice by staying informed of the latest research and clinical guidelines.
2. Contribute to the development and planning of Tier 3 weight management services in response to NHS needs.
3. Participate in team meetings, supervision, and appraisal processes to enhance professional growth.
4. Develop and implement accurate record-keeping and audit systems to maintain service quality.

1. Deliver weight reduction programmes in both group and individual settings as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
2. Build effective communication channels with internal teams and external partners/stakeholders.
3. Monitor the budget effectively, ensuring alignment with organisational procedures.
4. Maintain specialist knowledge of obesity management and share insights through report writing and knowledge dissemination.
5. Participate in evidence-based practice and innovation within the service.

Personal Attributes and Requirements



Knowledge



- Extensive understanding of dietetic theory and practice, specifically in obesity management.
- Awareness of safeguarding issues and bariatric surgery procedures.

Skills and Experience



- Proven track record in dietetics with a focus on obesity.
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary and NHS setting is desirable.
- Knowledge and competence in behavioural therapy approaches for weight management.

Qualifications



- Degree in Dietetics or related discipline.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Desirable



Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment. A real interest in weight management and disordered eating. Experience of working in an NHS setting.
