Peterborough College is looking for a dedicated
Specialist Support Tutor
to join our friendly Additional Learning Support (ALS) team. In this role, you will provide high-quality teaching and guidance to SEND students, both 1:1 and in small groups, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve success.
You will work closely with students, staff, and the wider College team to:
Plan and deliver personalised learning sessions in English, maths, language, study skills, and assistive technology.
Assess student needs and contribute to EHCP reviews, ensuring every learner receives the support they require.
Set and monitor SMART targets to track progress and celebrate achievements.
Provide guidance on strategies to maximise independence and access to learning.
Support the use of assistive technology and specialist equipment to enhance learning.
Collaborate with faculty, wellbeing, and safeguarding teams to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all learners.
What we're looking for:
A Level 5 teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one) and Level 2 English and Maths.
Experience in teaching, assessing, and supporting students, including using assistive strategies.
Knowledge of SEND, learning support strategies, and relevant legislation.
Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a positive, can-do approach.
