Specialist or Advanced Practice Nurses (ANPs, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nurse Consultants)
to join our medico-legal team. This role is ideal for nurses with clinical expertise in a specialty area (oncology, cardiology, neurology, orthopaedics, or similar) who are interested in contributing to high-quality medico-legal reports and expert witness work.
As part of our team, you will produce structured, evidence-based medico-legal reports for a range of cases including road traffic accidents (RTA), workplace injuries, and clinical negligence claims. You may also be called upon to provide expert testimony in court.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare comprehensive, specialist medico-legal reports based on clinical assessment and medical records.
Provide expert clinical opinion, including prognosis, causation, and treatment implications, within your field of specialty.
Review and interpret medical records and investigation results to produce clear, structured reports suitable for legal proceedings.
Attend court or hearings as an expert witness when required, providing clear, professional testimony.
Ensure all reports comply with medico-legal standards, including CPR 35 requirements where applicable.
Work independently while adhering to agency protocols and deadlines.
Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times.
Person Specification / Requirements
Registered Nurse (NMC) with current registration.
Recognised specialist or advanced practice qualification (ANP, CNS, Nurse Consultant, or equivalent).
Significant clinical experience in a relevant specialty (e.g., oncology, cardiology, neurology, orthopaedics).
Experience in medico-legal report writing and/or expert witness work is highly desirable.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage own caseload.
Medico-legal training (or willingness to undertake) highly desirable.
