As a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital part in supporting pupils aged 4-16 with Autism, speech and language needs, and learning differences. This is a highly rewarding, classroom-based role where your support will help children develop essential communication skills and build confidence in their interactions with others in a special school in Leeds.
Key Responsibilities
Work one-to-one and in small groups to develop pupils' speech, language and communication
Use PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables to support expressive and receptive language
Help children manage social situations and emotional regulation with gentle guidance
Follow therapy-informed strategies set by the Speech and Language Therapist and class teacher
Create structured routines that build trust, engagement, and independence
Act as a reliable and encouraging Speech and Language Teaching Assistant within a supportive school team

If you take a temporary role with Sense Education, you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
