Location: Northstowe Sports Centre, Stirling Road, Northstowe, Cambridge CB24 1DJ

Salary: 32,000.00 - 36,000.00 (Additional Benefits - Commission opportunities available, linked to performance targets such as membership growth and income generation.)

Hours: Full-time (40hrs pw)

Overview

P&E Sports is proud to be taking on management of Northstowe Sports Centre from 1st September 2025. We are seeking a committed and proactive Sports Centre Manager to lead the operations during a phased opening period and through to full launch by January 2026.

Key Responsibilities

:

Operational Leadership

Oversee all daily operations during evenings and weekends during the initial phase, with responsibility expanding to full operational hours (6am-10pm) once the centre becomes fully operational. Lead the setup and roll-out of procedures, staffing systems and operational policies to ensure the centre runs smoothly and meets both the school standards and the needs of the local community. Ensure compliance with all health and safety, safeguarding and site policies, always maintaining a safe environment for users and staff.
Staff Management

Recruit, manage and develop a team including duty officers, receptionists, fitness instructors and cleaning staff. Create staff rotas and ensure sufficient on-site cover in line with operational hours and demand. Ensure all staff receive appropriate training in emergency procedures, safeguarding (including Prevent), customer service and any role-specific qualifications required for their duties.
Facility & Customer Management

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and functionality across all facilities including gym, studios, sports hall, pitches and changing areas. Manage customer feedback and complaints in a professional, timely manner, enhancing service delivery through continuous improvement. Lead on membership services and facility booking procedures using P&E Sports' portals and systems.
Community Engagement

Promote the centre locally and online to encourage usage from new hirers, casual users, sports clubs and community groups. Ensure that pricing policies, including concessionary rates, support access for all and reflect the Community Access Agreement.
Commercial Management

Achieve revenue targets through strong operational performance and community engagement. Monitor budgets, income and expenditure and contribute to the centre's financial sustainability. Support the development of gym memberships, classes and leisure programmes to maximise participation.

Person Specification

:

Essential

:

Experience managing a sports or leisure facility (ideally dual-use or school-based). Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent customer service ethos with the ability to manage user needs and conflicts effectively. IT literate and confident using booking/membership systems. Flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Desirable

:

Fitness, leisure or facility management qualification (e.g. CIMSPA, NVQ/SVQ Leisure Management). First Aid at Work and Safeguarding qualifications. Experience with gym operations and community engagement strategies.
