The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for sport who is looking to use their skills and experience to organise, deliver and develop our 34 Team UoP student sports clubs and physical activity programmes. The role will play a key part in the strategic growth and sustainability of each sports club's offer, which includes engagement, development and competition. The post holder will work closely with the student sports club committees to motivate and develop the student workforce, making sure the committee members feel supported.
As a Sports Development Officer, you will be responsible for areas of the sports club offer. Examples of responsibilities include; programming, events, campaigns, club development, coach recruitment and committee support and development. You will be the first point of contact to the students for these matters ensuring that the needs of the students are balanced with the needs of the wider team and university requirements.
We are seeking applications from individuals who have experience working in a sports organisation and experience of planning, organising and delivering club sport programmes, project or events. The successful candidate must have experience of supporting, motivating and developing a team of volunteers. The role requires an individual with excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage difficult conversation with student members and volunteers, and work well in a fast-paced environment.
This is a full-time role based at our new outstanding 57M Ravelin Sports Centre. The sports centre's facilities include a 25m 8 lane swimming pool, 175 station fitness suites, climbing wall, cafe and community orchard set in historic parkland.
To support the delivery of University/Departmental events, activities and functions the post holder is expected to work flexibly to provide services to a range of customers. As a maximum the post holder may be needed to work 1-3 weekday evenings and 1 weekend day per month, as well as specific peak times per service.
Flexible or fractional working (30 hours or more per week) will be considered and can be discussed at interview. This is a student facing role but some hybrid working may be possible.
