Painter / Shot Blaster - Workshop-Based Position
An established engineering and fabrication company is seeking an experienced Painter/Shot Blaster to join its expanding team. The role involves surface preparation and painting of metal components, primarily working on fabricated steel structures within a busy workshop setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Shot blast metal surfaces to eliminate rust, scale, and coatings
Apply primers and topcoats using airless and conventional spray methods
Mask and shield components prior to painting
Achieve high-quality paint finishes in accordance with industry standards
Safely operate and maintain blasting and painting equipment
Mix and prepare paints based on technical specifications
Comply with COSHH regulations for safe handling of materials
Interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications
Support general workshop duties, including goods-in tasks
What We're Looking For:
Proven experience in industrial painting and shot blasting, preferably within heavy engineering or fabrication sectors
Knowledge of epoxy, polyurethane, and zinc-rich coatings
Familiarity with surface preparation standards
Strong commitment to quality, health, and safety
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Forklift or crane operation experience is advantageous (training provided)
Flexibility to work overtime when required
Desirable (Not Essential):
ICATS or TTP certification
COSHH awareness
Experience working under ISO or similar standards
