Staff Nurse Rgn

Leigh-on-Sea, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

About Us

Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust has supported the Southend community and beyond for nearly 50 years. Our mission is to educate, empower and support people to detect breast cancer early, understand the signs and symptoms, and access help when they need it most. We're proud to provide nurse-led education, advice, reassurance, and soon holistic support through our new McAdden Sanctuary Programme due to launch in September this year.

Role Purpose

As one of our nurses, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality breast awareness education and one-to-one support to people concerned about breast health. You'll offer guidance, reassurance and practical information -- helping people understand how to check themselves, what to look out for, and what to do if they have concerns.

One day per week, you will take our vital service into the community, delivering outreach sessions, workshops and talks to ensure our support reaches as many people as possible, especially those who may not access traditional health settings.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver breast awareness education and one-to-one consultations in person, online, and by phone. Support individuals to understand signs and symptoms, how to self-check, and when to see a GP. Advocate on behalf of those who have a concern and can't get an appointment with their GP to be referred. Provide clear, accurate information and signpost to other services where appropriate. Keep accurate, confidential records of appointments and advice given. Work with the Nursing Services Manager to develop and deliver outreach sessions in community settings. Contribute to the development of new resources and sessions for the McAdden Sanctuary Programme. Take part in relevant training and keep professional knowledge up to date. Act as a positive ambassador for Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust at all times.

Registered Nurse (we will need your valid pin number to be included in your application details). Experience in women's health, breast care, health promotion or similar. Excellent communication and listening skills. Compassionate, approachable and non-judgmental. Confident working independently and as part of a small team. Flexible and willing to travel locally for outreach work. Willing to work one evening a week and the occasional weekend. Good organisational and record-keeping skills.

Experience delivering community outreach or health education. Experience working in the charity sector or with volunteers. A valid driver's license.
