The Role





The Stores & Equipment Manager will take a proactive approach to maintaining and overseeing the efficient use of equipment across the business. You will be responsible for ensuring the central warehouse and yard operate smoothly and safely while also guaranteeing that equipment and materials are effectively managed in satellite yards and by field teams.

This role demands a hands-on, solutions-oriented mindset to instil a culture of accountability and care for equipment throughout the organisation. Regular visits to satellite yards, inspections of vehicle-held equipment, and the consistent enforcement of high standards in equipment handling and storage will form key parts of your responsibilities.



Key Responsibilities



Including but not limited to:

Manage Stock and Equipment in the Warehouse and Main Yard:

Take full operational ownership of all stock and equipment within the warehouse and main yard. Maintain structured stock areas and ensure accurate and timely goods-in/goods-out processes through the stock management system.

Lead Team and Drive Operational Discipline:

Line manage and develop the warehouse and stores team, setting clear responsibilities and expectations. Promote and enforce a high-performance culture through regular feedback, structured 1:1s, and support. Ensure full daily operational coverage and responsiveness across all store and yard functions.

Set and Monitor Standards Across All Sites:

Establish, communicate, and uphold consistent equipment care standards for all teams, regardless of whether the equipment is tracked within the stock system. Conduct regular site visits and audits at satellite yards and within field teams' vehicles to promote good equipment practice and identify issues.

Champion Equipment Culture and Compliance:

Lead by example in creating a culture of ownership and pride in equipment across the company. Define and communicate behavioural expectations around equipment care and ensure consistent follow-through. Monitor compliance with processes such as stock requests, returns, vehicle kit checks, and escalate gaps promptly.

Report, Analyse, and Improve:

Generate regular reports on stock accuracy, equipment location, and usage trends. Collaborate with Operations and Finance to ensure clean reconciliation and project cost allocation. Continuously monitor stocks levels and work closely with consumers of stock (e.g. build teams) and demanders (finance) to ensure appropriate stock levels. Use insights to identify and implement practical improvements to equipment and stores processes.

Job Requirements & Key Skills



Significant experience managing equipment and stock. Strong leadership presence capable of influencing culture and behaviours around equipment care. Strong organisational and communication skills, able to articulate standards clearly and positively enforce them. Familiarity with IT-based stock management systems, CRM, and related technologies. Understanding of rural operational contexts and logistical challenges would be beneficial. Confident decision-maker, comfortable escalating critical issues appropriately.
