Job Description


As a Technical Lead you will work with internal stakeholders to provide data and insight from our existing asset corporate asset management systems, such as PIONEER, MISER, GIS, AMIS, MAXIMO, ORACLE, and ARM in order to:

  • Support the Network Strategy manager in the development of the Long-term Delivery Network strategy, covering the next 25 years
  • Propose interventions to maintain performance on the desired glide-path as adverse conditions arise (such as climate change for example)
  • Working closely with engineering and planning teams within the network, challenging common practice and ensure overall alignment with the strategy.
You will be interested in learning more about Asset Management principles and putting these into practice in the development of our Network Long-Term Delivery Strategy and excited about the opportunity to shape the future strategies on behalf of the directorate and the business.

You will have an understanding of water networks and the duties on us as suppliers of wholesome drinking water and an appreciation of the importance of accurately understanding risk and articulating needs, and the benefits of prioritising those needs.

You will have a desire and enthusiasm to develop your own thinking and methodologies and will be given the space to do so.

Specific task will include:
  • Detailing the cost and expected benefit for proposed interventions and creating an optimal combination for the long-term strategy
  • Evaluate multiple potential future pathways for management of our asset base, including a core pathway (which are \'no regrets\' investments) and several alternate pathways that could be triggered in future if risks materialise
  • Sensitivity testing of the network strategy as current performance trends fluctuate during the AMP and propose interventions to bring performance back on track
  • Monitor current and future industry changes relevant to our asset base for early awareness, enabling timely deployment of new strategies or changes to existing strategy, providing valuable input into long-term ambitions.
  • Attend monthly NIMMs (Network Infrastructure & Maintenance Meetings) for the different company communities to challenge the validity of assumptions around network performance, as well as the investments to address those network risks, to get best outcome for consumers and business.
  • Work closely with Asset Planning/ Engineering team to provide robust challenge and support during project optioneering and concept stages.
  • Promote Affinity Water and the Asset Strategy directorate to the wider industry.
Requirements
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.
  • 2+ years of data management preferably within the water industry or similar
  • utility required
  • Proven experience of collating data from a wide selection of systems to provide insightful analysis that drives tactical decision making
  • An effective and articulate communicator both in written and oral form.
  • Ability to summarise technical information and effectively support briefing of senior leaders to support decision making.
  • Experience with asset management systems such as PIONEER and Copperleaf desirable.
  • Experience with Hydraulic modelling and GIS desirable
  • Experience of project management, project management accreditation
