The role

As a Strategic Portfolio Leader - Military Communications you\'ll have a role that\'s out of the ordinary. Mission Systems enable our customers to deliver their mission, through our products and solutions, using intelligence and analysis and delivering critical communication services.

Our aim is to be at the centre of our customers\' modern digital backbone by connecting and delivering sensors, decision support, and air effectors across military and business domains

Day to day, you\'ll collaborate with the Mission Systems team, contributing to the development and definition of business delivery and growth strategies.

  • Develop and deliver \'strategy into action\' plans for the Military Communications Portfolio, ensuring integration with the Sense + Connect Line of Business strategy and alignment with the broader Mission Systems objectives.
  • Ensure existing and future contracts within the Strategic Portfolio are delivered successfully to meet customer goals, business objectives and financial targets.
  • Maintain the Military Communications opportunity pipeline, monitoring markets and ensuring new opportunities are identified and prosecuted in-line with strategy and financial targets.
  • Credibly represent Babcock across the scope of the Strategic Portfolio, fostering relationships with customers, stakeholders, and industry partners, as required to deliver the strategy.
  • Understand customer and other stakeholder needs and goals, defining and implementing management strategies and communication plans that build trust and support collaborative working.
Essential experience of the Strategic Portfolio Leader - Military Communications
  • Relevant experience and subject matter expertise within the Military Communications domain.
  • Experience of successfully delivering and growing businesses and managing senior customer stakeholders.
  • A strategic thinker, with an ambitious outlook, with extensive experience in successful delivery of complex programmes and portfolios, business development and bid winning as well as leading operations.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand the needs of internal stakeholders, and to contribute to the development of sound, effective and efficient solutions.
  • The ability to work effectively and collaboratively with senior stakeholders, across borders
  • The ability to lead diverse functional teams, demonstrating strong operational and line management capability and the ability to motivate and develop high performing teams.
This is a full-time, permanent position with 3 days a week on-site in either Bristol or Gloucester or Plymouth with working from home options.

Qualifications for the Strategic Portfolio Leader - Military Communications
  • Education, or equivalent experience, to degree level within a relevant subject.
  • Holds, or capable of achieving Chartered status within a relevant professional body
The successful candidate must be able to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role.
