A leading youth charity based in Bolton is looking for a Projects Accountant to take on a newly created role as a result of the organisation\xe2\x80\x99s growth and success in winning new grants. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join this amazing charity, where you will be working with a team wholly invested in providing young people with the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

The salary offered for this role is \xc2\xa348,000 \xe2\x80\x93 \xc2\xa353,000 per annum (dependent on experience). Benefits include hybrid working (you will be office based twice a week) with flexibility in working hours; 25 days leave (rising to 30 days with length of service) plus bank holidays, birthday leave and leave purchase scheme from day one; company matched pension; company sick, maternity, paternity & adoption pay.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will be working with Finance Team colleagues, and also in partnership with the Property & Construction Team.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing financial management information to fulfil both capital funders\xe2\x80\x99 and the charity\xe2\x80\x99s reporting requirements, including preparing and submitting accurate financial claims to DCMS, the Towns Fund, Heritage Lottery and other capital funders.
  • Monitoring and analysing financial information, working closely with the Property & Construction Team to reflect changes to the cash flow forecasts based on progress or slippage of capital projects, managing cash flow, preparing regular cash flow forecasts for each project, and pre-empting any anticipated issues to the Director of Finance.
  • Working closely with the Property & Construction Team to maintain the purchase ledger, prepare monthly payment packs and obtain relevant authorisation.
  • Implementing appropriate financial controls, ensuring these are in use at all times, specifically around procurement, and ensuring that restricted funds are correctly accounted for.
  • Leading the monthly Project Finance meetings with the in-house project management team, covering the key milestones and financial reporting requirements.
Candidates applying for this role must have the following:
  • Working knowledge of preparing capital cash flow statements, budget setting, forecasting and managing multiple income streams.
  • Experience of financial management of property/land & building assets within a private, public or charitable setting.
  • Experience in using Excel to manipulate and present complex data.
  • Working knowledge of Sage or similar software, and other IT packages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong experience in business partnering.
  • Excellent analytical skills including preparation and analysis of reports.
