Post No. SSAC0300 - Strategic Regional Lead Substance Use



Newport City Council has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and committed Regional Lead Advisor for Gwent Substance Use offered on a secondment basis for 12 months (permission from your line manager must be sought before applying).



The post holder will be responsible for developing and improving an efficient and effective substance misuse system across Gwent on behalf of the Area Planning Board which delivers measurable outcomes for people needing support and treatment. The role will lead and participate in multi-agency planning and transformation and support the production of joint strategies and delivery plans; assessing services, programs and projects, identifying areas for collaborative and partnership working to enable service redesign and deliver support and treatment in the most appropriate support setting for individuals.



The post holder will manage dedicated APB and shared partnership resources contributing to system delivery. In particular, they will act as the strategic commissioning lead, the post-holder is expected to grow and embed service design and improvement and commissioning capabilities across the partner organisations, working within tight timescales and competing demands. This work will often involve working with highly complex, sensitive information with a high degree of autonomy.
