Job Responsibilities

Complete day-to-day street cleansing tasks according to contract specifications and daily route schedules. Comply with Health and Safety regulations, including wearing Council-issued uniforms and protective clothing and footwear. Take reasonable care for personal and others' safety; cooperate with managers/supervisors to comply with statutory health and safety duties; report incidents, accidents, and faults. Attend training courses when instructed. Undertake street cleansing duties as directed by supervisors. Participate in refuse collection duties.

Person Specifications

Qualifications and Experience

A current, full UK driving license is desirable. Knowledge of the Newport area is essential, and experience working in the public sector is desirable.

Ability to work on own initiative and as a team player. Ability to work to targets and deadlines. Ability to identify priorities and manage the progress of own work and competing demands. Good customer care skills.

Circumstances

Possession of a current full UK driving license is desirable. Stamina to undertake considerable walking, bending, lifting, and carrying duties. Able to work a rostered shift pattern, including weekends, Bank Holidays, and extra statutory days. Able and prepared to work outdoors, irrespective of weather or conditions.
