The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. You'll support children with autism spectrum condition (ASC), complex communication needs, and a broad range of special educational needs (SEN), including Down's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Global Developmental Delay. You'll provide therapy both in class and via targeted interventions--ensuring every child has a voice.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver specialist speech and language therapy through 1:1, group, and class-based sessions
Conduct formal and informal assessments and contribute to EHCP reviews
Devise and implement therapy plans that embed communication into daily routines
Supervise SALT Assistants and advise teaching teams
Monitor progress and adjust interventions accordingly
Deliver training to school staff and contribute to parent workshops
Maintain accurate and professional records in line with HCPC and RCSLT standards
Participate in staff meetings, peer supervision, and multidisciplinary planning
Support with AAC devices and communication aids
Essential Requirements
Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
HCPC registration (Health and Care Professions Council)
RCSLT membership (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists)
Experience with ASC and complex communication profiles
Strong skills in assessment, diagnosis, and delivering therapy in educational settings
Confident using a range of tools including AAC systems and communication strategies
Excellent team collaboration, organisation, and communication skills
Ability to supervise assistants and support colleagues with practical SLT strategies
Desirable
Experience working in specialist schools
Familiarity with EHCP processes and SEND frameworks
Comfortable delivering training and supporting whole-school communication strategies
