To support students and staff in managing behaviour for learning by working closely with the pastoral team to ensure effective systems are in place. The post holder will provide direct support to students to improve attendance, punctuality, and behaviour, enabling them to fully engage in school life. The role involves close collaboration with students, parents, and carers to promote positive behaviour and attendance, and to assist the pastoral team in implementing behaviour management strategies.
Key Responsibilities Behaviour and Pastoral Support
Maintain an up-to-date log of concerns and referrals; update the central spreadsheet daily.
Respond promptly to on-call situations, promoting positive behaviour and attitudes in line with the school's ethos.
Support students reintegrating into lessons following removal or behaviour incidents.
Use behaviour data to identify and monitor patterns related to student conduct and staff interventions.
Investigate reported incidents thoroughly, ensuring accurate recording, follow-up, and communication with relevant staff (e.g. Heads of Year).
Promote student understanding of how attendance and behaviour impact progress.
Deliver targeted intervention sessions (e.g. emotional health and wellbeing).
Support the facilitation of restorative justice sessions.
Help maintain high standards of conduct and uniform around the school.
Respond to day-to-day student needs, including triaging students at the pastoral base before and after school.
Attendance, Uniform, and Resource Management
Oversee the daily management of uniform and student resources (e.g. planners, makeup removal supplies).
Monitor and manage uniform returns, cleanliness, stock levels, and second-hand uniform availability.
Organise and process uniform orders.
Arrange and purchase student transport (bus tickets/taxis) as directed by Heads of Year.
Keep accurate records of students involved in managed moves, offsite directions, or on behaviour passports.
Detentions and Interventions
Manage, monitor, and evaluate all aspects of the detention system.
Supervise after-school detentions as required, ensuring consistent daily operation.
Provide objective reports and feedback on student behaviour, truancy, and lesson avoidance.
Communication and Record Keeping
Handle home-school communications in line with school policy, including SMS and email correspondence with parents/carers.
Support the Deputy Headteacher (Students) in maintaining accurate pastoral records.
Update SIMS for the pastoral team, including intervention logs, meeting records, communication logs, and student statements.
Extract, input, and analyse data from SIMS while maintaining high standards of data accuracy and integrity.
