Job Description

TRCC is seeking an experienced

Subject Matter Specialist (International Trade)

to provide expert input into the development and quality assurance of its regulated qualifications.

This associate role is ideal for an industry professional with strong international trade expertise who wishes to contribute to qualification design, assessment validity, and sector relevance. You will play a key role in ensuring that qualifications accurately reflect current international trade practice, legislation, and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

Advise on curriculum and qualification design to ensure alignment with current international trade, customs, and compliance practice. Validate the technical accuracy of learning outcomes, assessment tasks, and related content. Review assessment materials to ensure occupational authenticity, fairness, and relevance. Contribute to qualification validation panels, standardisation meetings, and quality activities. Provide structured feedback on pilot assessments and recommend improvements. Support TRCC's commitment to

equality, diversity, and inclusion

in assessment design. Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge through CPD, including awareness of changes in international trade policy and legislation.
Essential Experience and Skills

Significant professional experience in

international trade, customs, export/import compliance, or related disciplines

. Understanding of qualification design and assessment principles. Ability to critically review and provide feedback on technical and applied learning content. Strong written communication, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
Desirable

Experience working with an

awarding organisation, EPAO, or professional body

. Recognised professional membership (e.g.

Institute of Export & International Trade

or equivalent). Awareness of

Ofqual regulations

and regulated qualifications.
