Job Description

We are looking for a proactive, detail-driven Substrate Buyer & Planner to join our Planning and Supply Chain Team at De La Rue.


The role consists of being accountable for managing a paper program that delivers a robust supply chain for De La Rue print operations. The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in a multifaceted supply chain environment and can balance operational delivery with strong supplier and stakeholder management. The candidate will also be comfortable in owning a high-value paper spend, managing end-to-end sourcing and planning activity, and ensuring continuity of supply to critical print operations. The candidate will bring a structured, analytical approach, are confident working with data and systems (particularly SAP and Excel), and can translate forecasts and plans into effective purchasing decisions.

Key Responsibilities



Manage the paper program and associated MPS (Manufacturing Production Schedule) through effective sourcing of paper from a core supply base aligned to the Paper Category Sourcing Strategy Manage stocks of security fibres to agreed levels, in line with forecast, through proactive monitoring of inventory in line with actual and forecast demand - PO and supplier management Drive the SAP paper part number creation process to ensure that parts numbers are available to place orders against well in advance of actual requirement Complete quote analysis and provide recommendation to key stakeholders that best balance price, availability and quality for specific bids Place paper purchase orders with agreed suppliers and maintain delivery dates in SAP in line with the MPS on a periodic basis Create and maintain the Paper packs for each order and update as the order flows through the chosen supplier Manage supplier performance and build strong relationships with paper suppliers to get best value for money and delivery.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience



Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, with grades A-C (level 4-6) in Mathematics and English Industry experience Supply chain knowledge Strong organisational skills Experience of SAP or similar systems Strong communication skills both verbally & written with the ability to communicate at all levels
