Join The Roberts Centre and be a vital part of a team that has been supporting vulnerable individuals and families in Portsmouth, Havant, and Gosport for over 36 years. We provide essential services to those facing challenges such as homelessness and family breakdowns, helping them rebuild stable, positive futures. Your Role & Responsibilities:





Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and fun activities for children aged 5 to 11 throughout the Summer Playscheme.


Foster a safe and inclusive environment where children build trust and form lasting friendships.


Establish connections with organizations that refer children or offer resources and activities for the Playscheme.


Maintain the welfare, health, safety, and well-being of all children, staff, and volunteers.


Ensure that all families complete necessary consent forms for their children's participation.


Maintain accurate daily registers for children, volunteers, and students.


Handle petty cash responsibly and maintain accurate records of expenditures.


Manage volunteers effectively, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations during the Playscheme.


Ensure all accidents and injuries are documented in the accident book and follow safety protocols.

Who We're Looking For:





A qualification in Childcare (e.g., NNEB, NVQ III, or equivalent in youth work, teaching, social care, or teaching assistant).


Strong knowledge of child development and a deep understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage or youth work.


Experience working with children in settings like schools, nurseries, or play facilities.


Experience supporting families in crisis is essential.


Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage children, families, and staff effectively.


A positive, approachable attitude and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.


Ability to supervise volunteers and manage your own workload with and without supervision.


Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances, with the ability to work well in crisis situations.


Willingness to undertake further training and development.
