Job Description

Northern Marine Group are looking to recruit an experienced Marine Superintendent to providing professional knowledge, experience and advice to fleet groups as required.

Key Responsibilities




Assisting the Fleet Groups and the Health, Safety Environmental and Quality Department in implementing and maintaining the accreditation of vessels in line with the requirements of the International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention. Perform shipboard audits to achieve and maintain accreditation in accordance with legislative requirements. Liaising with the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) and other industry bodies on tanker related issues. Assisting the Fleet Groups in the preparation and submission of responses and reports to external inspections, e.g. Flag State, Port State, SIRE and CDI and the uploading and administering of the associated vessel information databases. Act as the principal point of contact with Chart Agents to ensure systems are effective and in compliance with statutory requirements. Responsible for maintaining Nautical Standards on all managed vessels. Administer the various vessel tracking systems in line with Company and Owners requirements. Advise Fleet Groups in all aspects of navigational practices, cargo issues, lifting equipment, general deck operations and associated operational safety. Assisting with accident and/or incident investigations and preparing any associated report(s). Within their area of expertise, identifying, preparing and reviewing documentation amendments/revisions, software programs and new equipment to meet identified needs in the development of the Company's Management System. Liaising with classification societies and flag state administrations on matters outwith the normal day-to-day operations conducted by superintendents including registration of new tonnage entering management, vessels leaving management, change of Flag and Class etc. Perform the functions required of the Company Security Officer. Interviewing sea staff recruits within their area(s) of expertise as requested by the Personnel Department. Emergency Role: Member of the Casualty Response Team. Occasional travel as required

Candidate Requirements

Essential




Unlimited certificate of competency - STCW II/2 (unlimited tonnage). Sufficient experience in a directly related Marine Operations role within a ship managed company. Sailed as a senior officer. Significant experience in a seagoing position. Extensive experience in all aspects of the Marine Superintendent role in a support function. Completed structured career development plan to fulfil Marine Superintendent role. Extensive knowledge of ISM and ISPS. Extensive operations, technical and safety knowledge of chemical, oil, gas tankers operations Good financial knowledge of budgets and maintaining cost control Extensive knowledge of OCIMF and CDI 'vetting' process. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Customer facing skills. Commercial acumen. Excellent organisational skills. Team player. Motivated and flexible.

Desirable




Unlimited Master Mariners licence in compliance with certificate of competency. Command experience on oil / gas / Chemical tankers. * Bachelor's degree in Nautical Science or similar.
