Job Description

Mettricks is looking for a

Supervisor

for our Portswood branch to join our team and support the smooth running of our store. This is a hands-on role where you will assist the branch manager in delivering exceptional service, leading the team, and ensuring the store operates efficiently.

Mettricks has been bringing better tea and coffee, fresh tasty food from brunch to cakes, to Southampton since 2013. With four sites and a coffee roastery in our home city, we pride ourselves on quality, local sourcing, and being a hub in our community.

As a Supervisor, your key objective is to ensure daily operations run smoothly, maintain our high standards, and support the development of our team. You will play an important role in maintaining the Mettricks Way by setting a positive example, supporting team members, and helping to deliver a consistently excellent customer experience.

This role is ideal for someone who can:

Motivate and support a team to deliver service and standards that exceed customer expectations Take ownership of daily operations while assisting the branch manager with planning and problem-solving Demonstrate strong attention to detail, particularly around quality, hygiene, and safety Communicate clearly and build strong relationships with the team and customers Bring energy, positivity, and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks

Service and quality spot checks/audits Customer feedback Staff engagement and development Supporting sales targets and operational efficiency

OPERATIONAL / DAY TO DAY MANAGEMENT



As Supervisor, you are responsible for supporting all day-to-day aspects of store operations, including:

Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and team Supporting stock control and minimising waste while ensuring availability Assisting with store maintenance and equipment checks

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT



Assisting with motivating and supporting the team to deliver a great coffee house experience Role-modelling Mettricks values and behaviours Supporting team development, feedback, and performance management under the guidance of the branch manager Helping to coordinate rotas, holidays, and hours submitted for pay

COMMUNICATION MANAGEMENT



Encouraging open communication with the team and supporting updates on business performance, initiatives, and other relevant information Helping to create a positive team culture

CUSTOMER MANAGEMENT



Ensuring every customer receives a welcoming, consistent, and high-quality experience Supporting loyalty-building initiatives and regular customer engagement
