Street Lighting Supervisor

Location: Stevenage







Job Role

As Street Lighting Supervisor, you will play a key role in overseeing the safe and efficient delivery of street lighting works across Hertfordshire. Reporting directly to the Street Lighting Contracts Manager you'll supervise operational teams, ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards, on time, and in line with council policies and statutory requirements.





Duties

Supervise street lighting maintenance and installation works, ensuring compliance with standards, methods, and operational procedures. Carry out daily site inspections, maintaining quality on-site and completing all required documentation/certification. Oversee operatives, managing productivity, delivering daily briefings, and ensuring accurate job pack preparation. Manage Traffic Management arrangements for works, including high-speed roads and night operations. Support identification and planning of works for future programmes. Participate in cross-team meetings to share best practice, drive consistency, and improve service delivery. Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies and CDM regulations, promoting a safety culture.


Person Specification

Electrically qualified City & Guilds parts - 1,2 & 3 (2330 or 2365 or equivalent) or HEA electrically qualified. NRSWA Supervisor Accreditation. Strong knowledge of highway/street lighting legislation, standards, and safe working practices. Experience supervising operational teams in highways, utilities, or street lighting. Good IT skills, particularly Word and Excel. Excellent communication skills - verbal and written - with the ability to engage confidently with clients, colleagues, and the public. Proactive, motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team

Contract Type: Permanent





Hours: Full Time - 45 - Monday to Friday
