You'll be working alongside the Supply Chain Manager to keep the factory supplied, planned and running smoothly. You'll help plan what gets made, check materials are available, sort orders and deliveries, and handle the admin that keeps everything ticking over. It's a mix of planning, organising, purchasing and problem-solving to support manufacturing from start to finish.

Purpose of the role


Assist the Supply Chain Manager with duties covering MRP production planning, manufacture and despatch, together with the associated administration. This includes supporting production planning across multiple operations, managing Bills of Material (BOMs), processing orders, liaising with suppliers, and ensuring materials are available on time. Combined use of Excel, Sage 200 and Power BI is desirable, as much of the role involves handling data and ensuring accuracy.

Key responsibilities



Production planning for PVC compounds, extrusion lines, injection moulding shop and secondary operations.

Material requirement planning: check production schedules against stock and BOMs, highlight shortages, and propose actions.

Raise and process order issues, amend runs, arrange materials mid-batch, update system dates.

Supplier liaison: chase confirmations, resolve queries, and maintain clear communication.

Invoice matching and query resolution: match invoices to POs/GRNs; chase credits; liaise with Accounts.

Transport booking: arrange occasional wagons/collections; issue paperwork; track ETAs and resolve delivery issues.

Bill of Material (BOM) administration: maintain and update recipes, inputs, routings and associated data for accuracy.

Systems end process development: support improvements in planning tools, reporting templates and supply chain workflows.

Required skills and experience



Experience in a supply chain, production admin or planning support role (manufacturing preferred).

Strong Excel skills (lookups, PivotTables).

Sage 200 experience, particularly in order processing, BOMs and inventory management.

Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for orders, inventory and BOMs.

Clear written and verbal communication; confident speaking with suppliers, hauliers and shop-floor team.

Sound numeracy and attention to detail; able to reconcile data and spot anomalies quickly.

Ability to review multiple production plans to assess material requirements.

Desirable



Power BI: building simple reports/dashboards, DAX basics, data modelling fundamentals.

Basic AI skills: prompt-driven data clean-up, drafting emails, summarising large logs, and creating simple SOPs.

Knowledge of plastics, extrusion/compounding, or process manufacturing planning constraints.

Qualifications



GCSEs/A-Levels (or equivalent) including Maths and English. Further education in Business/Supply Chain advantageous.

Any Power BI, Excel or data analysis certifications are a plus.
